The reference guide states that measurements must be taken on a 10'-0' maximum spacing implying that a 2'-0" or 5'-0" spacing would also be allowed. The question is if the tighter spacing would be required over the whole area. In other words, could you do a 2'-0" spacing where you would like to, but do a 10'-0" spacing also only where you would like to? In my experience, the reviewers really like consistency. So, besides being a lot more work and perhaps potentially losing compliant area (if one of your points between two compliant points is non-compliant), I believe you would be better off keeping a consistent spacing. I doubt doing an average between spaces would be acceptable since that is not an accurate assessment of footcandle levels between points.
