I've found that most of the "conventional" energy modeling I need for LEED can be performed with the less expensive tools like eQuest. For specialized modeling of daylight, natural ventilation, etc, tools like IES can be very useful.

With IES software you can address all forms of simulation including Artificial Lighting, Daylighting, Cooling Loads Calculation, Energy Modelling, Thermal Comfort, HVAC Design, Real time HVAC Controls interfaces , Natural ventilation and CFD.
The best advantage is that all this is done in an integrated environment with a SINGLE building model.

Any new insight about IES ? We are currently hesitating between IES and Design builder and feedback or reference would help.

Maybe not for all credits ? but it now includes :"More ASHRAE 90.1 and LEED options including Appendix G constructions and outline baseline HVAC systems".
I was more looking into IES as many of my friends recommended it. But here in South Korea Energyplus and thus DesingBuilder is very popular.
