Fenestration in Baseline

ASHRAE 90.1-2007 has made this a little easier to deal with. The requirement for the baseline case now reads says that vertical fenestration areas "shall equal that in the proposed design, or 40% of gross above grade wall area, whichever is smaller, and shall be distributed on each face of the building in the same proportions in the proposed design." So, if your building is less than 40% glazed, baseline and proposed are equal. If you have more than 40% glazing in the proposed design, you need to reduce glazed areas proportionally on each exposure in the baseline until 40% is met.

Is it mean, we dont want to equally distribute the glazing in all direction. i.e If my overall window wall ratio is 20% (north 30%, south 10%, West 0% and East 10%), as per the Ashrae 90.1-2004, the overall windpw wall ratio should be equally distribute in the base case by acheiving north 20%, south 20%, east 20% and west 20%. Whether 90.1-2007 not required the above task.

Not evenly distributed, but as Chris indicated proportionally distributed per facade.
