You can use any metric that is reasonable and makes sense for your project, but it’s common to use the amount of product purchased or used, or the dollar value of your products, to determine your level of compliance. For example, if you purchase $5,000 worth of fertilizers annually, $2,500 of which is spent on organic products from OMRI’s list of crop products for 2009, and you fertilize only when soil tests indicate a need for additional nutrients, then more than 50% of your fertilizing activities meet the credit requirements, and your project complies with the requirements for this part of the plan.
