Some easily implemented strategies include: 

daylighting and controls, especially if you are pursuing IEQc6.1: Controllability of Systems—Lighting;
installing Energy Star appliances;
energy recovery ventilation, which is especially useful in moderate to harsher climates; 
and variable speed controls on pumps and fans.
