This credit is ideal for school projects that are considering future development under a long-term master site plan. Projects where no future development is planned are not eligible for this credit.

If your project pursues this credit, you’ll need to analyze the future proposed development for the site to ensure the project site maintains the environmental considerations of the initial design. Projects must earn at least four of the six Location and Transportation and/or Sustainable Sites credits listed in the credit language, and also demonstrate that the achieved credits can still be earned after future development is underway.

Be sure to work with the local school authority when developing the master plan. This will ensure that the school district’s requirements for future development are incorporated into the plan.
