This prerequisite encourages teams to incorporate LEED goals and strategies into the design from the outset of the project. Teams should create the Owner Project Requirements (OPR) for the project early in the project timeline. This document will outline the “triple bottom line” goals and values the project is aiming to achieve.

To ensure these goals can be met, you’ll need to strategically assemble the stakeholders and design team members for a charrette. Remember to incorporate as many professionals from different fields into the conversation as possible. Once your team is gathered you’ll need to create an outline for the schematic design of the project that incorporates the goals and strategies outlined in the OPR.

What’s New in LEED v4

  • The required duration of the project charrette has been reduced from a full day to four hours.
  • The list of disciplines of eligible professions for the integrative design team has been expanded.
