Secondhand smoke inhalation is a leading cause of lung cancer. Prohibiting smoking has become law in most non-residential buildings, but has not yet taken a foothold in multi-family homes.

  • Do you feel it’s reasonable to prohibit smoking on private patios/decks, if they are within 25 feet of entries, outdoor intakes, and operable windows?

Credit Submittals

General

  1. Register for Pilot Credit(s) LEEDuser.com, and participate in online forum
  2. Submit the feedback survey using the link on the USGBC.org credit page; supply PDF of your survey/confirmation of completion with credit documentation

Credit Specific

  • Provide a copy of rental/lease agreements or condo/coop agreements prohibiting smoking in required areas.
  • Documentation, either through photographs or plans, of signage prohibiting smoking in required areas, and/or allowing it at least 25 feet from entries, outdoor intakes, and operable window
