NC-v4 WEp2:Indoor water use reduction

Which flow rates to use?

Hi all, The prerequisite lists the baseline flow rates at 60psi (415 kPa). Does this mean that the proposed flow rate must also be at 60psi? Are we able to use the flow rate at the actual operating pressure? Thanks in advance!

LEED is about fixture efficiency selection rather than actual operating habits. You should use the baseline flow rate pressure.

Hello, The spec sheets for the faucets we are using do not state the pressure at which the flow rate was determined. We received comments from the LEED reviewer asking for the pressure, can I simply use the baseline pressures listed in the ref guide? The response above reads as though you can.    Thanks, Sophie

Hi Sophie, I'd try reaching out to the manufacturer. Even an email from customer service can be provided as backup documentation to satisfy the review comment.

Thank you, Trista. I've been contacting them for weeks and they do not understand what I am talking about which is rather surprising. They don't understand that I am asking for the input pressure when the measured the output flow rate. I sent them a sample from Kohler in hopes they can figure it out, hopefully they will respond soon. I did come across the Watersense website where it states that a test pressure of 60 psi is specified in the current industry standard (ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1-Plumbing Supply Fittings) to which all faucets sold in the US [and Canada] must comply. If the faucets we are using state they comply with ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1, I would hope that I can state that their reported flow rate was determined at 60 psi. My colleagues and I agree that this is a fair assumption. https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2017-01/documents/ws-products-support-statement-faucets.pdf

Oh yes, great sleuthing! I completely agree.
