Hello,
I have a project which has specified 1.6/1.1 gpf tankless toilets. Since the origionaly published BD+C v4 guidebook stats that tankless toilets are not elegable for watersense labeling in the step-by-step guidance section we did not specifiy this requiremnt during the origional design of the project. We now know that tankless toilets are elegable for watersense labeling. We are wondering if the origional LEED registration date of our project preceeds tankless toilet water sense eledgability. What is the date that LEED began requiring watersense labeling for tankless toilets?

Hi Shana,
Was this a comment from a reviewer, or just something you noticed?
Based on other posts within this thread, I believe whatever LEED requirements were in place at the time of your website registration should apply. I didn't see anything listed with the addenda for this credit, so if it changed, it was probably with one of the many v4.1 updates. If your project is not registered under v4.1 then you certainly should not be held to it. Probably the only way to determine when it changed would be to compare the v4.1 releases against the v4 text and see where it differs. To my knowledge, we've had at least 8 v4.1 updated releases to-date...unless I missed one. The credit library will only show the most recent version of the v4.1 credits, so if you need the older ones, they're available under the Resources area on the USGBC website.

This is a v4 project and we are getting ready to submit the design credits. It's a large building >600,000 SF. Updating the fixture selection now would be expensive but the longer we wait the more expensive it would get. all the v4.1 language says is "eligible" fixtures. it doesn't call out tankless specifically.

If you're registered under v4 and using the original v4 credit language (not a v4.1 update) then you will not be held to any of the v4.1 changes, or changes to Watersense if they occurred after the time of the v4 publication. With the only exceptions being major changes to the energy prereq, this has been LEED's policy for quite some time. You should be safe; if anything comes back in a review comment (the reviewers are from all over the place and often reference incorrect things) you can ping LEED Coach on the side and it will be reviewed/discussed via email without affecting the official submission review.
