Anyone have a precedent for weighing males/females differently than LEED's standard 50%/50% split on the FTE's? I have a glorified truck stop & shipping/receiving center that has a predominantly male user group and would love to know if I can calculate with 70% male users for LEED calc's on the water use reduction...cheers!

In case of not standard FTE split, LEED Reviewers usually ask for additional documentation able to prove the statement. I'd suggest you to indicate 70% male uses just if you can demonstrate it.

Ben, It is very hard to get the weightings shifted. You will have to proof that all truckers in the future will be 70% male and 30% female. I had a similar situation with nursing staff and was not allowed to change the weightings as I could not guarantee all nurses in the future would follow the weighting we had set. My recommendation is to stick with the 50/50 split for your project.

The latest feedback our team received (while working on a distribution facility) was that FTE splits other than 50/50 will be accepted only for projects where the facility use has a known gender disparty - as in "Male Penetentiary", "Female Dorm", etc. We pushed the topic on behalf of our client given that they have historical staff data (as most industrial facilities do) showing higher male ratios. The above was the final response...
