Dear All
Our project uses PP-R pipe (Polypropylene Random Copolymer) for chilled water piping. The PP-R pipes is connected together by welding. There is the voc limits for PVC, CPVC, ABC and plastic cement welding but we cannot find the VOC limit for the welding of PP-R. Please advise whether there is VOC limit for PP-R.
Thank you

ABS, CPVC, & PVC are all types of plastics typically joined by “Solvent Welding.” SCAQMD-1168 assigns a different VOC limit for each of these the types. The “Plastic Cement Welding” category is a fourth category for cements & solvents used to weld OTHER types of plastic (presumably including PP-R).

Dear Jon
Thank you very much for the clarification. However, the PP-R welding for our case does not use solvent. Instead, we use heat to melt on surfaces to be connected for creating the bond between those surfaces. During the melting, it is possible that there is the release of gaseous chemical during the melting. Could you advise whether there is the VOC limit for this situation

SCAQMD-1168 governs adhesives and sealants. It does not cover heat welding that occurs without an adhesive or solvent, so this bonding method is not relevant to IEQc4.1.
