For Option 1, Path 2 using the daylight and views calculator we are trying to a factor that meets the requirement. The building has exterior automated horizontal louvers (not perforated), which do close completely if there is too much direct sunlight, but they can be operated with a switch to preserve views. The question is, if these are considered to be view-preserving even though they are not perforated, but can be adjusted to a horizontal position?

Hi Maya,
I believe that you can only take credit in Path 2 for shades which are controlled by a photocell. Normally, fixed exterior shades do not meet this requirement, but because you describe your louvers as automatically-controlled, you might be in a grey area.
If these louvers automatically close when there is glare and an occupant would need to manually switch them to a horizontal position, I don't know whether they will be considered view-preserving by the reviewers.
If you decide to make this argument, I'd recommend submitting an interpretation request first before going through the effort of all the calculations, just in case! Alternatively, you may also want to look at Path 1 or 3, both of which are more flexible than Path 2.
