The new USGBC-provided "Minimum IAQ Performance Calculator" appears to be applicable to LEED 2009 and LEED v4 projects in that it includes calculations for ASHRAE 62.1-2007 and 2010. However, the spreadsheet is "protected" and does not allow you to enter additional space types, such as those found in FGI or ASHRAE 170. So how are you supposed to use this spreadsheet for LEED for Healthcare projects?

Hi,
We're looking same spreadsheet for healthcare ventilation calculator that covers ASHRAE 170 and ASHRAE 62.1 Standard. How can we upload ventilation calculations to the LEED Online? New version forms indicate only upload section and there is no any input gaps for ventilation calculations. Is there any calculator except current IAQ Calculator? Because current IAQ calculator indicates only ASHRAE 62.1 2007/2010 scope.

Hi,
Any solution for this issue available? I haveboth hospital space which will cover under 170 and general spaces which will get covered under 62.1 under one AHU. How to show complaince for the minimum indor air calculation.

Very good question everybody. I have found that LEED will accept my company's calculations which combine 62.1 and 170 for healthcare projects, since the LEED 62.1 calculator does not have any inputs for ASHRAE 170. I print out a PDF of our spreadsheet showing all the inputs, variables, and outputs for both 62.1 and 170, similar to what the LEED calculator looks like. Please correct me if there is a better way.
It sure would be helpful if LEED or someone else could add in ASHRAE 170 to this calculator. I bet a lot of people would be willing to pay for it (hint, hint).

Hi all,
based on your experience with ASHRAE 170-2008, with a 100% Outdoor Air system do we have to respect the Minimum Total ach or the Minimum Outdoor ach? It seems to us that the minimum total ach values are very high and difficult to be met. What do you think?

Eh, yes and most of the time. ASHRAE 170 airflow requirements are written with the idea you are supplying mixed RA and OA that is going through a pre-filter and final-filter. I'm going to assume this is in the US if not then it really depends. In California, they will let you lower the total ACH if it is 100% OA (i think just in patient rooms), but I am not aware of anywhere else allowing a reduction in the total ACH. It would be extremely prohibitive to do an OR with 100% OA and wouldn't make much sense given the purpose of the design standards for that space.
