University/Campus Setting

We're working on a college residential building and documenting Option 2 Onsite Composting because there is an on-campus compost processing vessel. We're documenting the "life-cycle" of organic waste to compost, explaining how it gets from the unit kitchens in the building to the vessel, and where the compost goes once its created. I think using the idea of "life cycle" as a framework for documentation may help you make sure your strategy and narrative covers everything. 

To more directly answer your question, we're tracking the life cycle of organic waste in the building specifically, but part of that lifecycle does enter the remaining campus and would be similar to other buildings that have composting. I imagine if this credit were pursued in another building, the documentation would be very similar with the exception of marked up floor plans to show where waste rooms and collection locations are.

Our project is also on a University Campus, though being documented through Option 1 regular compost collection and offsite processing and we've also documented it to include just the scope of the single building pursuing LEED. This has included calculating the organic waste generated by just the singular building occupants and ensuring the appropriate number of organic waste receptable and educations proceduers are easily accessible to occupants when they are located in the building. 

Similar to Aileen's project, our university project is a student center with food service, we are doing Option 1 and only including the scope of the building pursuing LEED.
