Hi,
We are working on a LEED Recertification project and decided to use Arc for that. My questions are: Typically, how do you perform these testings? Which protocols are more commonly followed? Do you rent/purchase the equipment and do it with in-house staff or do you hire a company to do all the testing? Any input will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ece Ersoz

Hi Ece,
We're currently working on an ARC project and were able to find this resource that explains the acceptable IAQ testing methodology https://www.usgbc.org/sites/default/files/DataResources41817.pdf. Included as an acceptable strategy is the use of photo-ionization devices (PID), which can be rented. I think that in-house staff could use the equipment though you may want to work with an outside group to take care of the testing as a simpler approach for your team.

In regard to TVOC and CO2 testing for LEED O+M recertification using ARC, can someone explain how the PID readings translate to points for your Human Experience score? What is the minimum allowable TVOC level (micrograms per cubic meter of air (ug/m3)) ? Do you receive additional points for a better reading, or is LEED/GBCI giving a fixed number of points just for verifying that the test is done? Thanks in advance for any insight offered!

Could there be any recommendation of simple equipment purchased online for the measurement of CO2 and TVOC?
