Trellis in Vegetated Area

I'm working on a project with an open space and vegetated area compliant to the credit requirement. By this time, the owner wants to put a trellis with roof (which is not part of the building footprint) at some part of softscape area. Can we still count the covered softscape area as softscape to comply with the requirement?
