Hello,
Would a LEED ND project be eligible for this credit if there are NO planned new stransit stops, BUT an important improvemnet of one of them? The project is close to 2 bus stops and a metro station. The 2 bus stops are located in the project boundary and already offer protection from the elements and seating. on the other hand, the metro station is separated from the project site by a wide avenue. To connect the existing metro station to the project, the developer will fund an elevated passerelle with pedestrian and bicycle lanes, and that will be covered from the elements. Would this count as an eligible improvement, and would this be enough to obtain the credit?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Carla, if the existing bus stops meet ND and transit agency standards, they don't require action to earn the credit as long as the metro station access upgrade occurs. The credit does specify stops within a project boundary, but USGBC/GBCI have been ok with improving stops that are adjacent or physically connected to a project, which your passerelle will accomplish. It will help your submission to include documentation from the transit agency expressing agreement with the approach to the bus stops and metro station.
