Good Afternoon,
I'm working on the VA-Fresno Mental Health Center Expansion (Project # 1000104659). We're asked to upload a Minimum Energy Performance Calculator. Our TRACE energy report provides robust information in similar ways that the minimum energy performance calculation spreadsheet would. I wanted to ask the question of:
If we are pursuing "Option 1. Whole-building energy simulation." is there any form of documentation such as a TRACE 700 Performance Report that can replace the need to fill out the Minimum Energy Performance Calculation? Also, how is the minimum energy performance spreadsheet any better or optimal than a complete Trace 700 Report?
Thanks for your help on this,

Since your project is under LEEDv4, LEEDOnline should be utilizing the EA103 V01 form version for Minimum Energy Performance. The form explicitly requires this upload as a part of the documentation process even if TRACE, IES, etc. reports are submitted. See the language below.
"Upload: Minimum Energy Performance Calculator
Provide the completed Minimum Energy Performance Calculator (found under the prerequisite's "Resources" tab in the
Credit Library)."

Each program has its own documentation rules and formats (Energy Star, state incentive programs, even COMcheck). This helps the reviewer expedite review since the same piece of information could be located in different locations based on the simulation tool used (Energy Plus, Trane, eQuest, IES, etc). This is not unusual for any rating system. You'll still be required to upload samples of the TRACE reports for verification, just not the several hundred (or even thousand!) pages of PDFs.
For the most part, it's a matter of "copy and paste". Filling out the calculator as clearly, concisely, and accurately as you can is in everyone's interest.
