Hello!--Our design team is trying to assess if we can acheive this credit on a current LEED project. I'm reading a lot of reference information about the requirements, to figure out exactly what it takes and what information I need to request from furniture manufacturers. Are there any correlations between these MRc5 credit requirements and some of the other third-party rating systems? For instance:
- Does a GREENGUARD certified product also meet the Option 1 requirements?
- Does a GREENGUARD Gold product also meet the Option 2 requirements?
- Does a BIFMA Level certified product also meet the Option 3 requirements?
Has anyone else started looking into how these systems compare and how they might affect strategies to acheive this credit?

Manufacturer's seem to be able to comply with Option 2 the most.
For this Greenguard Gold (formerly children & schoold) and SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification mee the CA 01350 testing requirement. Berkeley Analytical is another 3rd party testing agency that provide product testing for CA 01350.
In terms of chemical content contact manufacturer's directly and request a manufacturer's letter or testing documentation lists the noted chemical categories and a numerical value for each. The product has be at or under 100ppm for at least 2 of the 5 chemical categories.
I do not like to interpret testing data, so a manufacturer's letter summarizing the testing data (if testing data is provided) is the most concise documentation.
Work with a furniture vendor as they have more access to info and can help vet products.
Hope this helps.

As a manufacturer, I find that the Option 2 is the one we compy with. However, the certificate of compliance, indicates the following we conform to ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standard (M7.1/X7.1-2011) for the open plan and private office workstation parameters1,2; California Specification 01350 (Standard Method v1.1, effective January 1, 2012) for the open plan1,2; and ANSI/BIFMA e3-2012 (Credits 7.6.1, 7.6.2, and 7.6.3) for the open plan and private office workstation parameters1,2. Is there an alternate way we can report on this credit? Any suggestions?
