Hello LEED User community,
Does anyone have any information regarding how to show compliance with and document the "moisture resistant adhesives meeting ASTM 2559" requirements in the EQ Low-emitting materials, structural composite wood?
I asked a glulam / CLT manufacturer if the adhesives used comply with ASTM 2559 and his answer was that "CLT and glulams adhesives are required to meet the requirements of the certifications established for the products. CSA0122 and ANSI 190.1 for Glulam and APA/PRG320 for CLT. These take precedent over all other items." These are the standards for the final products, not the adhesives, so I don't think this helps in showing adhesives compliance with ASTM 2559.
If I can find out if the adhesives are acceptable, my approach to document the credit would be to provide first a manufacturer's declaration stating that 1) the adhesives meet ASTM 2559 and 2) no surface treatments with added-formaldehyde resins or coatings; and second documentation showing the product meets one of the required industry standards.
Any thoughts on if this is an acceptable way to show compliance with the structural composite wood requirements?
Many thanks
