Stone counter adhesive/filler - problem with VOCs

I'm running into a problem on more than one LEED-H project. There is a product, Superior Knife Grade, that is used as adhesive and filler in stone counters. The problem is that the VOC is 305-356 g/L. I cannot find an alternative, and this seems to be a standard product that all the contractors have experience using. There is no "stone adhesive" value listed in the table for SCAQMD 1168, and the adhesive doesn't meet the VOC limits for general construction adhesives. Has anyone run into this problem before? I would hate to lose the 0.5 point because we have been meticulous about VOCs in every other area of the project. Thanks for any advice you have!

Melanie, this shouldn't be a problem unless they're using buckets of the stuff. Like all the other materials in MR2.2, 90% compliance for a given line item -- e.g., ALL adhesives & sealants combined -- gets you the 1/2 point credit.
