We have a school project registered under LEED for Schools 2009. The project involves the demolition and asbestos abatement of the existing school building then the construction of a new school building on the same site. The project intends to pursue SSc3 - brownfield redevelopment (due to the asbestos abatement) as well as MR credit 2 Construction Waste Management. The question is if we are pursue SSc3 for the demolition of the old school, do we automatically have to recycle construction waste debris in order to get either credit (SSc3 and/or MRc2)? I ask this because the CMR did not include recycling of construction debris in the demolition package of the old school - how will this impact our LEED project?
