We are about to start our 2nd LEED project and are interested in providing wording within the Specifications for the General Contractors bidding the project preparing them for the required paperwork to achieve the MR Credits. Most of the Contractors bidding the project will more than likely never have worked on a LEED project before. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to the best way to communicate these requirements?

Try the CSI spec writing software of your choice. We have a Construction Waste Management section in Division 1 and cross reference that with our Sustainable Design Requirements section also located in Div 1. Don't be afraid to heavily modify both sections.

Hopefully you will have a solid Division 1 Sustainable Design (SD) section that outlines the overview and specific credits (including a LEED checklist) that you are attempting. I like to provide the GC reporting forms for his/her subs so that there is no question about what they need to provide for the MR and EQ credits. Getting the details in the specs is extremely important for all the LEED requirements and the MR credits need special attention because Part 2 of the affected sections needs to include the details on the material attributes.
Yet having looked a lot of LEED specs, I have seen problems when it comes to getting the details right.
Maybe you need some help from a consultant who has done this before?
