EBOM-2009 SSc7.2:Heat Island Reduction—Roof

Solar panels serving another building

If solar panels on our building‘s roof are serving another building‘s energy needs, can we still exclude these solar panels from calculations as mechanical equipment? I.e., our building will have no renewables, but has „rented“ the roof space to a neighbour building. Is this OK in regard to SSc7.2? Thanks!

Hi Rasita, this credit is only interested in the characteristics of the roof, so it doesn't matter who is getting energy from the solar panels. You can treat the solar panels like other mechanical equipment and exclude that area from the credit calculations.
