Hi all,
We have a project that is mostly open office space. Each workstation will have partitions (54" high partition + 12" glazing panel). Our team is wondering, how do sit-stand desks affect the achievement of this credit? Has anyone had a similar project situation?
Thank you in advance for your help!

I had a similar situation with our own office fitout, which we certified under ID+C. We asked a question while we were determining our partition heights/types since the Ref Guide did not dictate a height limit like was done under v2009. The response was this:
"When evaluating regularly occupied spaces for EQc Quality Views in ID+C v4, permanent interior obstructions and moveable furniture and partitions must be taken into account, however, there is not a specific height restriction for furniture. This allows project teams flexibility when determining how quality views will be provided within the projects."
So, not entirely helpful in determining definite guidance.
We ended up with low partition walls that did not exceed 42"; additionally, the spine of our workstations was perpendicular to the window areas, so even the spine wasn't obstructing views. We had 100% sit-stand desks.
I'd think you'd have a hard time justifying 54" of solid panel, topped by glass. That means that, even though your occupants could have a view if they were standing, it does not enable full access to views for those individuals who cannot stand to work. A safer design for this particular credit would be to limit solid partitions to 42" and do transparent glazing above if you need additional acoustic separation between workstations.
I'd be curious to hear if anyone has had a different experience.
