To come up with an area of shaded parking, etc, do I just add up the totals of my 10AM Noon and 3PM shadings by trees and buildings?

Terry, I would take the average area of the shaded sections from your 10am, noon, and 3pm calculations. This is done so provide a more accurate representation of the shaded areas.

Just to make sure, you shouldn't be calculating an average of the shading by buildings only the shading by trees. Under the LEEDuser Checklists tab above (http://www.leeduser.com/credit/NC-2009/SSc7.1#gid-tab), It states, "You cannot count shading cast from the building itself, as your project building does not cover non-building hardscape area from an aerial view. However, you can count canopies that protrude from buildings and shade hardscapes." Also, the LEED 2009 BDC Reference Guide states on page 113, "Identify all hardscape surfaces shaded by architectural devices or structures that have an SRI of at least 29 and sum the total area (A). The shaded area can be considered equivalent to the area covered by the architectural devices or structures on the site plan (from a direct overhead aerial perspective)."
