Hi, I am working on a 10 floors office project building in Japan. For roof area, there are only about 100 sqm exposed surface (less than 10% of total area). These area might be used for equipment maintanance, or others. From the reference guide, project roof fully covered by equipment will not be eligible for this credit. But for our case, can we still pursue by get 75% exposed area painted with high SRI material? Thanks.

Hi Ran, I'm not aware of any rule that would prohibit you from attempting this credit. I think you could pursue it and provide clear documentation showing the extent of the mechanical equipment on the roof. If you're planning to spend a lot of money to paint the roof you might consider submitting a CIR first to get confirmation that your approach will be accepted by GBCI.
