What do the wayfinding signs need to say to direct people to places of respite?
Do we need more than just a room name?
Do exterior spaces need a sign inside the door leading to the exterior to remind occupants that it is there?
Do we need a sign outside at the benches and walking path highlighting that it is a place of respite?
We have a walking path through the community gardens, a playground, patio seating, etc.

Hi Leanne,
1. There is no exact word or sentence that shall be included in the wayfinding in LEED BD+C v4 Guide and 2010 FGI Guidelines. The requirement for wayfinding or signage is to meet the 2010 FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities (Section 1.2-6.3 and Appendix A1.2-6.3, Wayfinding).
2. The 2010 FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities (Section 1.2-6.3 and Appendix A1.2-6.3, Wayfinding) asks about interior wayfinding (room numbering). Therefore, it is better to include room numbering instead of just the room name.
3. If you are referring to the You Are Here (YAH) map, there is no exact requirement where to put this YAH map. But the signs providing directions should be placed at major decision points including major intersections, major destinations, and changes in the building.
4. Example site plan highlighting areas of respite in LEED BD+C v4 Guide page 240 does not show any signage outside the benches. The signage is placed in the walking path from/to respite areas.
