Dear All,
we are evaluating the possibility of certifying a distribution center with large refrigerated areas. These areas are regularly occupied.
In what relates to EQ 8 - Quality Views, is there any exemption applicable to refrigerated areas (please note that daylight integration in these areas implies a severe energy performance degradation and can affect food products stored and handled in these areas).
Thank you in advance,
Sofia Barahona

Dear Ricardo,
We are currently working on the process of certifying a warehouse with similar chacacteristics that you describe. Did you have any feedback regarding the issue with quality views applied to refrigerated areas?
Thank you,

I didn't see any exception for this kind of spaces in the Reference guide however we had a warehouse project where a part of the building was refrigerated and we excluded it from quality views calculations. We treated refrigerated area as not regularly occupied since the building users will use it rarely and only for short periods of time. Moreover it is not possible to provide windows in this kind of spaces. GBCI accepted our quality views calculations for this project.

Dear Agata, thank you for your response. It's been very useful to know an experience with this kind of project and that the GBCI accepted the special circumnstances. We will try excluding the refrigerated areas of the calculations, and submit it and see how it goes. On the other hand I also sent a question to GBCI regarding this issue, when I have an answer from them, I'll share it in the post.
Regards,
