Hi Diane,
The parameters for waste management are spelled out in MR Prerequisite Facility Maintenance and Renovations Policy. For each renovation or maintenance activity a customized waste management plan should be created that should develop diversion goals for at least 5 materials. Create dedicated storage for items that require special handling (i.e. recyclable carpets), and contract with local haulers to determine a procedure for diverting or disposing of the waste. At least 70% of the waste (by weight or volume) generated by facility maintenance and renovation activities must be diverted from landfills and incinerators. Ensure if you are recycling items such as existing floors or installation waste, the weight or volume of these materials is tracked to demonstrate compliance.
I hope this helps!
