I am working on a project with many large buildings (man greater than 600,00 sf). I wanted to advise the client on how much area they should set aside for recycling. Using the table in the Reference Guide it simply states that for projects 200,000 square feet or larger you should set aside 500 sf for recycling. Are there are any more refined numbers for larger projects?
Thanks!

Lauren, GIBc16 doesn't have any square footage requirements for recycling areas. Where exactly in the ND Reference Guide are you seeing the table you mentioned?

Hi Eliot, Sorry - I should have been more clear. The square footage requirements exist in LEED-NC and LEED-CI, etc. Just was wondering if something was scaled for the kind of larger developments that fall under LEED-ND.

Hi, Lauren. Interesting question! LEED-ND doesn't offer that sort of guideline because it addresses the scale issue differently - ND recycling requirements are about providing recycling receptacles along streets for public use, vs. recycling within buildings.
But I wouldn't be surprised if there are best practices for larger buildings...maybe someone else in the LEED User community has thoughts?

Meghan's right that sidewalk recycling receptacles are one of five GIBc16 options, along with recycling for building occupants. I found the table Lauren, and I'd try to find its USGBC author for possibly more info.
