Hello! We are having a FIELD DAY trying to find a compliant commercial washing machine for our hotel project. Can anyone recommend actual manufacturers/model #s of commercial clothes washers that are either ENERGYSTAR certified or meet the CEE Tier 3a requirements requirements that have been approved for use on a LEED project?
We have tried to contact manufacturers and request information on the Modified Energy Factor (MEF) and Water Factor (WF) for numerous products unsuccessfully.
This project is a hotel.
Thank you!

Hi Annalise! What kind of commercial washer are you looking for - one for hotel staff to wash linens, or an apartment building style coin-op one for guests to do laundry in? If it's the first kind, they typically don't fall within the Energy Star eligibility (by being bigger than the size range that ES regulates) and are therefore exempt. GBCI has confirmed that washers over 6 cu ft are not covered by the LEED requirements.
If it's the second one, we used a Speed Queen Quantum Gold washer on a student dorm project. That was a few years ago now so that may not be helpful anymore, though.

Hi Emily! Thank you - this is extremely helpful. It is the former - for hotel staff to wash linens.
Can you also point me to where the exclusion (6 cu ft) is listed? Is this in an Addendum or LEED Coach direction? Thanks again!

I got this confirmed via a LEED Coach email. but the reference is here: https://www.energystar.gov/products/clothes_washer_specification_version...
Actually, looking closer, the latest update seems to have bumped the high end to 8.0 cubic feet. But the definition of commercial washer is the same as the earlier one I saw: " A soft-mounted front-loading or soft-mounted top-loading clothes washer that is designed for use in applications in which the occupants of more than one household will be using the clothes washer, such as multi-family housing common areas and coin laundries. " So that is still a different type of machine from what a hotel would use in their central laundry. When I got this confirmation from LEED Coach it was regarding an assisted living project where staff will be washing bed linens.

I feel the LEEDonline form is confusing. they are segregating residential from commercial cloth washers but ll the hotel clothes washers are larger than 8 cu but these trend been super helpful
