I was LEED AP for a project that was re-certified in Jan 2017 (v2009 under O+M). What is the timeline for re-certification?
I have seen the new guideline for re-certification released last Dec 2018 (original release Oct 2018). It states re-certification is valid for 3 years.
My queries:
The original timeline for re-certification was 5 years. Given the award was given in Jan 2017, is it covered by the 3 year re-certification rule? Or is there a sunset date for the 5 year timeline?
Does the 3 year timeline refer to the project being able to complete or achieve re-certification within 3 years or is it like the previous practice that the project has to be registered by that timeline? Or does the project need to be registered 6 months before 3 years?
Hoping for your assistance.

Hi Pablo, it depends on which version of the rating system you decide to register under for recertification. The 3-year cycle you're referencing is for version 4.1 (https://www.usgbc.org/sites/default/files/LEED%20v4%201%20Recertificatio...). One path for you might be to move from v2009 to v4, and continue on a 5-year recertification cycle. Or, you could move from v2009 to v4.1, and start a 3-year cycle.
