Maria,
Since there can be different people reviewing different credits, the overview documents are there to give all reviewers a clear idea of your whole project. If they are unclear about the context or specifics of your project, the greater the chance of you having to respond to questions or clarifications that don't fit your situation. And the quicker they can grasp your project, the better of you (and everyone else!) will be.
So stack the deck in your favor and show any relevant elevations and renderings, colored or not, and by all means save time by using ones that you've already generated for permit review. It's up to you to decide what you consider necessary to tell the whole story, but put yourself in the position of someone who's been assigned to review only a few of your credits and make sure they have enough to understand the context.
