Hi LEED user,
According to LEED v.4 guidebook, the criteria states that "install meters for future tenant spaces so that tenants will be capable of independently metering energy consumption (electricity, chilled water, etc.) for all systems dedicated to their space.
Since the base building provides MVAC and electricity to tanent space only. Please clarify if the follwoing strategy would be suffient to demonstrate credit compliance.
1. HVAC system includes air cooled chiller with AHU - only enery meter at each teant space is required.
2. HVAC system includes water colled chiller with AHU - energy meter to measure chiller water and electricty meter are required.
Besides, the utility comapies in Hong Kong has a roll out plan to install smart meter in all newly developed buildings (including tenant space), would such meter could serve as the tenant level electricity meters? assuming the smart meter fulfill the metering specification as per guidebook.
Thanks so much in advance!

1. I am not sure I understand this scenario. Would the air cooled chiller deliver chilled water to the tenant spaces? If so you meed to meter chilled water and electricity.
2. that sounds correct.
It sounds like the electricity meters from the utility could meet the requirements for metering electricity for each tenant.
