I am not finding a way to quantify a hybrid commute. The language indicates there is a value to commuting in a hybrid, but how is that measured?

i believe it is true that not all hybrids count as 0s... From what we've seen, only Prius and Civic/Accord Hybrids fit the bill

Matthew - you're right. A hybrid only counts if it has a ACEEE Green Score of 40 or above. Not all hybrids meet this criteria, and some conventional engines do!

I am working on a large office building with hundreds of cars with very little mass-transit in the area. We are hoping to achieve most of our points via the ACEEE Green Score vehicles. Looking at the list of ACEEE Green Score vehicles it breaks down each car into very specific details (manual/auto, engine size) would we have to provide this level of detail in our survey and what we submit to LEED Online in order to achieve. I feel some of the results may be skewed as I'm sure many people wont know what engine size they have.

Paul - That's a very difficult situation. I think that if ACEEE differentiates between two engine sizes within the same model vehicle, your survey instrument would have to do so as well. If a Honda 4-cylinder is 'green' but a 6-cylinder isn't, that distinction is critical to assessing compliance. Depending on the sophistication of your survey, might you be able to anticipate some of those issues with drop-down menus that suggest engine size options for various vehicles? Alternately, is there a way to plan your survey so that you can follow-up for additional information with the slice of folks who have a vehicle that is compliant only in specific transmissions or engine sizes? No question about it - this is a tough road to travel for SSc4.
