Dear all,
I have a factory project located in a remote area which does not have public transportation service. We are seeking for additional points by providing transportation (bus/ shuttle) for pick up and drop off to our employees.
Would you please let me know if this option can comply with Alternative Transportation - Public Transportation Access credit? If yes, do I need to provide the number of employees would use the bus? or just provide a site plan showing the walking path is enough?
If not, please let me know which credit it could comply with?
Your support is highly appreciated

Particularly, we are going to provide private bus for our employees. Any suggestion on how many seat on each bus would be qualified ? We are planning to use either 16 or 25 seats shuttle bus for pick up. I think at the beginning we might only need one bus. The bus route is from central of city to factory project and same way back. Is it ok for achieving 6 points under Alternative Transportation - Public Transportation Access credit?

Hi Hanh,
In the "Birds Eye View" section of this credit, you will see a section for shuttle buses. They must connect to public transit and operate during the most frequent commuting hours. They must also "provide direct access to transit facilities within 2 miles of the project site, approximately a 5-10 minute drive, and must be available to all project occupants."
It sounds like your project may be more remote than that. If not, then you can certainly use this option. But if it is further away from transit facilities than is allowed, unfortunately, that means the credit is not a good fit for your project. Best of luck!

Hi Hanh, I had a similar case than you and in our preliminary review returned the past week the technical advice was: Provide additional documentation to describe how the bus service meets the LEED definition of public transportation . Per LEEd definition, public transportation consists of bus, rail, or other transit services for the GENERAL PUBLIC that operate on a regular basis, a private bus line must provide transportation service to the public in order to meet the requirements.
