I have seen IAQ specifications that state "Do not load or install drywall, other porous materials and components, and items with high organic content into partially enclosed building." Is this a requirement for credit compliance or is this just considered general best practices. Construction schedule does not always allow a fully enclosed building before drywall arrives to be stored on site.

I've not seen any reviewer call out a project on this and it would be hard to do. With gyp board, we get pushed on this frequently. We've gone with a few strategies. First, if they want to install gyp early, they need to meet certain conditions regarding exposure (covered, won't get directly wet, etc). They must not use regular gyp board with the typical paper. Second, find out why they want to install it early. Often they really want to get the heads of the walls in early for MEP equipment installation. Let them do just the heads and leave the bottoms where you're likely to get water damage out. Other times they just want to get moving on electrical rooms. If they are on the outside of the building, they need to use gyp sheathing. Inside, have them install the minimum to get them moving and switch to the moisture resistant boards. I've found that if we work with them and come up with solutions that don't slow down the process too much, that they'll work with you.
In our practice, we don't actually specify regular gyp board. It is all MR or sheathing. It helps with this condition.
