Our Project team was able to use this pilot credit to achieve additional points for a mixed use office space and trading floor in New York City. We were able to work with the client to provide sustainable and energy savings options outside the scope of existing credit language and still submit for points. The pilot credits are perfect examples that sustainability is not cookie cutter and there's always space for new and creative approaches.

We just completed for a CI project in Connecticut. The energy savings using the standard method versus an alternative was about an increase of 2%. Definitely worth at least completing the calculator to see if this pathway can help your project. Our energy modeler was able to complete the calculation for us quite quickly. Pursuing the pilot credit, we would expect to achieve 14 LEED credits (11% reduction)! The project was slated to have a 13% reduction but we have to take a 2% penalty for the base building envelope. Without the pilot credit, we would only achieve 11 LEED credits (9% reduction).

We had success using this path as well. Does not take a lot of time.

Our office also has been successfully utilizing this credit and have found it generally results in an additional LEED point for the project. Well worth pursuing and the documentation is worth the limited time it takes.
