Dear all,
During the construction phase, the contractor asked to use pesticides once per week within the building. The reason is to offset rats and other insects that may harm the workers during construction.
I do find this practice severely affecting the building's IEQ in general (and IEQ credits 3 and 4 in specific), however, I cannot find a clear statement to govern such practices, so, should we allow this, or is there any hidden statement within LEED to prevent this?

In this type of situation, which is outside the credit requirements language, you must go back to the credit intent. I can sympathize with the contractor, but you are also correct in that pesticides are an IAQ issue. I would look to the Integrated Pest Management credit in EBO+M for guidance on pest prevention that will best protect both workers and future occupants. You can incorporate your strategy into the IAQ Management Plan, and you may also be eligible for and IPM innovation credit.
