Does anyone have a copy of the Parking Generation Manual, 5th edition that they can share? It is really expensive and I just need a couple exerts for LEED calculations. More specifically, can someone tell me the recommended number of parking spaces/sf for an office space under 25k sf? The Institute of Transportation Engineers’ Transportation Planning Handbook, 3rd edition recommended 3.8 parking spaces/1,000 sf. Thanks!

Hello,
can someone answer the question by now? Did you find a solution, Renee?
I have the same problem and couldn´t find the informaton anywhere. For the v4 version a table with the recommended numbers hab been attached the appendix of the guide. Buying the Parking Generation Manual, 5th edition for only one number would be very expensive.

Still nothing? Is it possible for USGBC to update the reference guide to include the tables? This is a REALLY expensive manual.

Hi,
after I could not find any information, we submitted the v4.1 credit for our v4 project design review using the base ratio according to the strictest value from Table 18-2 of the "ITE Transportation Planning Handbook 3rd Edition", which is available in the LEED v4 Manual and explained that the in the v4.1 version required sources are not freely accessible and are not available in libraries or bookshops in Germany. The review team accepted the special circumstances and the credit.
I don´t know if that could work for anyone else or if it was only accepted due to the fact, that or project is located in Germany and that we reached a reduction over 50%.
Maybe it is possible in other countries to view the "Parking Generation Manual 5th Edition" or the "ITE Transportation Planning Handbook 4th Edition" in a bookshop or library and look the numbers up without buying the whole book.

I am told that the table will be updated for LEED v4.1 at some point (I assume in accordance with the addendum referenced Parking Generation Manual, 5th edition). Until that happens, my strategy on this credit under LEED v4.1 is to refer to the v4 Reference Guide's Base Ratios table (as adapted from ITE Transportation Planning Handbook, 3rd edition, Tables 18-2 through 18-4) and include my justification in a narrative.

The fact that USGBC hasn't addressed this issue in over two years says a lot about the organization. It feels like no one is listening or is in action around simple logistical issues dealing with the rating system. Disappointed.

I will say that with the change in leadership at USGBC that just happened I am optimistic. I have joined multiple meetings thus far with the new interim CEO (Peter Templeton) and other organization leaders and there appears to be a significant culture shift with clear action aleady happening and they are listening. There is even a LEEDuser forum for providing feedback (don't have the link handy) where you can provide feedback that they're monitoring.

The following comment was uploaded in another post about this, should anyone in this conversation still be searching for this appendix 4 table 1.
Hi,
sure: they are from https://www.usgbc.org/leed/v41, if you scroll down to resources in the segment LEED v4.1 Building Design +Construction you can download several documents. I revered to the LEED v4.1 BD+C rating system ( https://build.usgbc.org/bdc41 )

Hello everyone!
I'm working on certifying a LEED v4 NC Aquatic and Recreational Center project in the US. The available categories in the Transportation Planning Handbook 3rd edition are Health/Fitness Club, Athletic Club, or Recreational Community Center. I'm leaning toward the Recreational Community Center category, but I'm unsure and can't find documentation supporting my decision. For V4.1 path, when I look at the Appendix 4. Base Ratios for Parking Capacity Table 1 (https://build.usgbc.org/bdc41 -last page-), it only shows the Health/Fitness Club option.
Has anyone faced a similar situation? Any insights or references would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello! We used Health/Fitness Club for a rec center pursuing v4.1 Reduced Parking Footprint and it was approved.
