"Provide at least one vehicle parking space for every 100 occupants, rounded up. If the project has fewer than 100 occupants, provide one carshare vehicle parking space."
Are students K-12 included in the occupant count? By rounded up, does that mean by 5, 10, 50, 100?

I would exclude students unless there is parking for older students. If you are not designing a parking lot to accommodate student drivers, it makes sense to exclude them from the count.
Rounded up means the number of parking spaces. So if you have 100 occupants, 1 space. If you have 101 occupants, 2 spaces.

Hi all,
I have a similar question but for a higher education project where we have 18 Full-Time Equivalents (staff and faculty) and 250 transient occupants (students and visitors). For occupancy in this instance (since parking does accomodate student drivers) would it make sense to use a peak occupancy number such as the sum of our FTE + Transient count to determine number of carshare parking spaces?
Thank you!

Hi, I also have a similar question as I am working on a healthcare project and looking into option 3 - carshare parking. In the first section of the LEED v4 reference guide, there's a nice table that indicates which types of occupants need to be calculated for each applicable credit (and the exceptions). I'm wondering for this new credit: are we talking about peak occupants or averages ? Also, in this healtcare project, I'm dealing with emergency department, pediatric care, child psychiatry and neonatology (intensive baby care). Logic would tell me to exclude the patients from pediatric care, child psychiatry and neonatology (but include the visitors / aka parents or family). I'm just unsure about emergency care. Some will arrive by ambulance, others will come by themselves... Anyone has had any experience with this credit and regarding how to calculate occupant count ?

Hi all,
Please note that this credit is based on a % of the number of overall parking spaces provided, and is not contingent on the # of people...or at least it is now. This may have been a change from early version of 4.1; I'm looking at the Nov '20 PDF of 4.1 and it states the following (also what's currently showing in the Credit Library):
Option 2. Carshare (1 point)
Provide dedicated parking for carshare vehicles. Provide carshare vehicle parking space(s) for at least 1% of total parking spaces, rounded up. If the project has fewer than 100 parking spaces, provide one carshare vehicle parking space.
For existing carshare vehicle spaces already located within the project boundary, establish an agreement between the project and carshare company guaranteeing that the carshare vehicle space(s) will be dedicated for a minimum of two years from the certificate of building occupancy.
Existing carshare vehicles located in nearby on- or off-street parking areas do not contribute to credit achievement.
I think that will greatly simplify the answers to the questions posted above.
