Dear All,
I have a question regarding Option 2 – Carshare.
Which are the requirements of a parking place in order to be classified as a carshared parking place ? Signage only ? Preferred location ? Any other specific requirements ?
Thanks in advance.

This is a good question. The credit is not very clear on this.

Hi Ricardo,
I think it's safe to assume that the carshare spaces are not required to be in a preferred location like some other spaces have been required to be in the past. Although not explicitly stated, this is also the case for EV charging spots: they don't have to be preferred locations, they just need to be provided and have signage indicating they are reserved for cars actually being charged.
In this case, the signage would reserve the spots for only carshare. It is likely (and probably safest) to consider making the signage specific to the company with which the agreement is being made so that it is clear that those spaces are only for their vehicles; otherwise, I can see non-LEED saavy people confusing carshare vehicles with carpoolers, which are not the same.

Do reserved spaces for Uber and Lyft count? Or is this intended for Zipcar, Car2Go and similar?

Nope, this is meant to be for programs like Zip Car.

If the occupants use a car-sharing application to drive to work and the owner signs an agreement with the company that operates the application, can the company be considered a car-sharing company for Option 2 ? Can this company be considered a car-sharing company for Option 2 Leed V4.1? ( Example: Netlift _ https://polytechnique.netlift.me/covoiturage/ )

Priscillia, that program seems geared towards carpooling as a service, which is very different from a car share program, where you can basically rent your own car for short trips, errands, etc. but not have to share an actual ride with other people. I would reach out to LEED Coach to ask, specifically, to be sure, though. It does meet the intent of reducing single-occupant vehicles on the road...maybe room for an alternative compliance path since the owner has a direct agreement with them?

Hi Priscillia, Have you been able to successfully implement the car-sharing company for Option 2? Or did you request an ACP?

The owner ended up not moving forward with the carpooling option. So no, we did not successfully implement it on that project.

Hello Ricardo,
The guide does not explicitly mention that the spaces for shared vehicles need to meet any specific requirements; however, it is recommended that these spaces be located as close to the entrances as possible. Additionally, the requirement is that these spaces must occupy at least 5% of the total parking spaces.
