Hello, I am studying for my LEED Green Associate Exam. Under "Open Space" it states 25% of the 30% must be vegetated (turf grass does not count as vegetation). However, further down it states outdoor oopen space must be one of the following:
(1) A recreation-oriented paving turf with physical site lement that encourage physical acticity
(2) A pedestrian-oriented paving or turf area with physical site elements that ac comodate outdoor social activities
Can someone please help me understand why turf is included in both options?

Dear Bob,
I´m not sure if this answers your question, but pedestrian-oriented turf grass areas count as Open Space Area, thus to the 30%, but don´t count as vegetated, thus not to the 25% of the 30%.
Good luck for the examen!
