Occupant satisfaction score

Could you please give me more information about this equation 1. The occupant satisfaction score isn´t clear for me. What is the variance in occupant satisfaction level? 

 

Equation 1: Occupant satisfaction score = (Average occupant satisfaction level x 10) - variance in occupant satisfaction level

Goodmorning Amanda, I was wondering the same as you. The Guidance for achieving the Occupant satisfaction score is quite limiting as written in the manual O+M v4.1. Also, no information is provided on the survey response format (e.g. using a seven-point scale?). If anyone has updates please provide them here. Have a great day!
