Currently I am working on a office building project and there is a seven-eleven convient store in the first floor. The HVAC design engineer is not sure which occupancy category in table 6.1 of ASHRAE 62.1 he shall select.
The seven-eleven is quite small (1100 sq feet) and most items the store selling is food, such as milk, coffee, non-alcohol beverages, breads, and snacks. The store also sells magazines, newspapers, and tissue papers.
Shall design engineer apply Supermarket as the category? or Sales? The design engineer's idea about supermarket is a place with large spaces and almost sell everything. The seven-eleven in the project is very small and the items it carried are quite limited.

I would use the supermarket category. Although 7-11's are much smaller than a supermarket, they do have many similarities, with hot food sales and open refrigerated cases.
