In Office space buildings, in Enhanced Indoor Air quality strategies, Interior cross contamination prevention, LEED credit says “need to create negative pressure with respect to adjacent spaces when the doors to the room are closed. For each of these spaces, provide self-closing doors and deck-to-deck partitions or a hard-led ceiling”.
But, in office space toilets, printer rooms have already maintaining the negative pressure as per LEED & Ashrae. Do, this self – closing doors is really necessary even if we maintain the negative Pressure in the toilets, printers room etc.,

Nagaraj,
In my experience they do require the self-closing doors. However, do remember that this requirement is for rooms that are “…space where hazardous gases or chemicals may be present or used…”. While toilets may be smelly, they are not considered hazardous. And for printer rooms, check if they are high volume or not. If not, they are excluded. (I think it was 40 000 copies a month that was the limit). Where I live, copying has decreased a lot in the last 10 years as we have all gone digital. However, beware, they do consider a cleaning room or a laundry room a room with hazardous gases, even if you only use eco-friendly soap. There they require the self-closing doors!
