Does a natural gas chiller qualify for the Demand Response credit? Onsite generation of electric is specifically excluded, and this is somewhat related, althought not exactly. On one hand looking directly, it seems that the on site use of natural gas to provide chilled water offers little environmental benefit over electric. On the other hand, looking indirectly, avoiding the need to bring another power plant on line has substantial environmental benefit.

Hi Jacqueline, I don't believe the installation of a particular piece of mechanical equipment would hinder or help the achievement of this credit. Apparently the first version of this pilot credit allowed projects to comply just by documenting on-site renewable electricity production, and so the credit language has been revised to clearly state that this is no longer an option.
