NC-2009 MRc2:Construction Waste Management

MRc2-Concrete Not Poured from Truck and Returned to Batch Plant

Is our leftover concrete, not poured from the truck and returned to the batch plant, counted as diverted from landfills per MR2 if we can provide documentation that it is reused by the batch plant in some way? I see in FAQ's: Can materials that have been unused and returned to the manufacturer as part of a “take-back” program contribute to the credit? Yes, materials that would otherwise be waste, but that are diverted from the landfill to be salvaged or reused can contribute to MRc2.

Gregg - I would say no. The unused concrete material never really made it to the jobsite - unlike the unused material you note in the FAQ. If anyone else has a different opinion or experience with this, please chime in.

Thank you for the response Michelle. I had discussed this with a LEED consultant who we do some work with and this was their take on the idea as well. Therefore, I won't recommend our teams track that material for MRc2.
